PC ALUMNUS an OLYMPIC TORCH-BEARER
|
Nathan Wong
(PC grad 07) was chosen to carry the Olympic Torch!
Nathan’s turn came December 7th while the torch was being
carried through Beloeil. It was heavier than he’d expected
but his excitement made it lighter.
While at John Abbott, Nathan had organized “Survivor” and
“The Amazing Race” to get students involved and active.
Those initiatives allowed him to win the Coke contest to
carry the Olympic flame.

As an added
bonus, Nathan was also chosen for Coke’s bus shelter
advertising campaign. He was flown to Toronto for the photo
shoot, and his image is actually on 40 bus shelters in
downtown Montreal! |

Justine Harris Award
 |
I was
nominated for the JUSTINE HARRIS COUNSELLOR
AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE by two of my long-time
colleagues: Tom Conti and Deana Albertini.
Apparently I was nominated last year as well.
The Quebec Counselling Association is the
provincial Anglophone body of the Canadian
Counselling Association, and gives this award
every year.
The professional objectives recognized are
these:
OBJECTIVES:
QCA has established this award to meet the
following objectives:
-
To
promote professional initiative and
leadership in the provision and delivery of
services in the
diverse situations that our members perform;
-
to
applaud new and creative efforts to meet the
ever-changing needs of the counsellor’s work
environment;
-
to
recognize a counsellor’s demonstrated
commitment to excellence and high
professional
integrity.
Justine
Harris was a McGill Professor of Counselling and
was the first recipient of a QCA Excellence
Award in 1985. Some subsequent recipients you
might know have included Barbara Goode, Tom
Conti, Lew Louis, Sandra Salesas and my
internship supervisor [many moons ago] Claudia
Bourdon. It was a pleasure to be recognized by
my colleagues and I’m very thankful to them for
this!
