The purpose of the Parents'
Participation Organization (PPO) is to encourage the participation
of parents in the academic success of students and to foster the
collaboration of parents in developing, implementing and evaluating
the school's educational project.
The PPO holds several fund raising events, the proceeds of which are
used for special projects and purchases benefitting the students of
PCHS. During the 2008-2009 school year, the PPO organized two bake
sales, as well as a magazine subscription fundraiser. The money
raised by these efforts was used to fund the following:

Construction of
a compost station.

Middle School
Science Program supplies.

Game Room
supplies and repairs.
-
Library
materials.
-
A donation to
the school’s musical production of Grease.
PPO members are asked to participate
in Governing Board sub-committees. In the 2008-2009 school year, PPO
members joined the Educational Project committee and the Code of
Conduct review committee.
PPO members are also important volunteers in the school, helping out
at school photo days, vaccination days, and on other occasions. This
past April, PPO members set up and decorated the cafeteria for the
Grease Production Gala Evening dinner and silent auction,
benefitting the Steve Murphy Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The PPO puts together the monthly online Parent Newsletter, and
organizes and hosts the reception following the convocation ceremony
for grads. The PPO also organizes breakfast treats for teachers
during Teacher Appreciation Week, held every year in February.
The PPO meets one evening the first week of every month from October
to June on a day chosen by members at the first meeting.

students, parents and friends can still order magazines
online year round at the QSP website
www.qsp.ca.

Teacher
Appreciation Week Breakfast Treats: We will be preparing
breakfast trays of baked goods and other treats for our
teachers and staff. All parents are asked to participate by
sending in non-refrigerated baked goods on Tuesday, February
9th. The trays will be distributed to staff rooms throughout
the school the following morning. |

Convocation
2010: The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2010 will be
held Thursday, June 17th. The PPO grad committee will be
meeting soon to begin preparations for this important
evening. Volunteers are needed, especially parents of the
graduating class who would like to help make this event
