Want to know the secret to your child’s success in school? YOU!

Studies show the more involved parents are in their child’s education, the more successful the child will be. This happens regardless of the parent’s income, education or race. Parent involvement does not end when students reach high school.

Create a home environment that encourages learning:

• Read together

• Limit the time your child spends with TV and video games

• Encourage good study habits

• Make sure homework is done regularly

• Talk to the teachers

• Express high (but not unrealistic) expectations for your child's achievement

• Give praise for progress and help when they struggle

• Listen to your child

• Spend time with your child in the evenings and on weekends

• Get to know your child’s friends

• Volunteer at your child’s school
